Travel information
Tatranská Štrba is an important starting point for the hikes to the western part of the High Tatras. The settlement lies on the main road (E 50) and railway connecting western and eastern Slovakia. It is situated 16km west from the city Poprad.
Hotel RYSY is situated on the northern edge of Tatranská Štrba, nearby road connecting Tatranská Štrba and tourist center Štrbské Pleso as is seen on the map below.
Plain connection
The nearest airports to the place of the Conference are in the cities: Poprad-Tatry (TAT), Košice (KSC), Bratislava (BTS) and Vienna (VIE).
Flights to Poprad-Tatry Airport (TAT) are operated by Czech Airlines, other airports (KSC, BTS, VIE) have usual commercial lines.

Transport in Bratislava and nearby
- The connection of Airport in Vienna and Bratislava Main Bus Station
Is provided by bus company Eurolines with departures from Airport Vienna (VIE) at 8:00, 8:30, 9:30, 10:40, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30, 18:30, 19:30, 20:30, 21:30, 23:30. The journey takes approximately 1 hour, costs 7.7 €+1 € bagage.
In opposite direction the departures are at 5:30, 6:00, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 9:00, 9:30 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00.
The tickets are sold at Information helpdesks in the station. If the helpdesks are closed (at night) one can buy ticket right in the bus.
- The connection of Main Railway Station and Main Bus Station
Is provided by the trolley bus No. 210 with 12 min. intervals. The cost of the ticket is 0.50 € (15 min. ticket). The tickets are sold at the ticket vendors or at news-stands.
- The connection of Main Railway Station and Bratislava Airport (BTS)
Is provided by the bus No. 61 with 25 min. intervals. The cost of the ticket is 0.70 € (or 1 € with suitcase). The tickets are sold at the ticket vendors or at news-stands.
Transport by train
The connection of Bratislava (Košice) with Tatranská Štrba by train is provided by company ŽSR. One can also use the train for transportation from city Poprad to Tatranská Štrba.
Please note, the name of the station for Tatranská Štrba as in the railway itinerary is simply "Strba"! More about the train schedules in Slovakia you can find on Company portal or on portal cp.atlas.sk.

Transport nearby Tatranská Štrba
Train station Štrba and tourist center Štrbské Pleso are connected by cog railway. One can get on/off this cog railway near the hotel RYSY on the stop called Tatranský Lieskovec. From Štrbské pleso center one can start touristic journeys to different parts of High Tatra Mountines.
Other possible transport from train station Štrba to Hotel RYSY is taxi, or footwalk approx. 15min.
